Congratulations to BE North Staffs who have received a 2010-11 Breath of Fresh Air Award for Outstaning Contributions to BLF Projects in recognition of their £1,000 donation.
Breathe Easy Week
BE North Staffs organised two awareness stands and collections during Breathe Easy Week, at Tescos and at Sainsburys. Members of the group talked to shoppers about lung health and Breathe Easy.
Concert Marks 25th Anniversary
BE North Staffordshire held a concert to celebrate the British Lung Foundation's 25th anniversary. Newcastle Male Voice Choir performed alongside a solo recorder player, and Jeremy Bacon from the British Lung Foundation Midlands Office gave a short talk on the work of the British Lung Foundation. The concert was a great success and raised over £660 for the group.
Awareness Day
BE North Staffordshire organised a stand in The Potteries Shopping Centre in Hanley, Stoke on Trent. The group were joined by Respiratory Physiologists from University Hospital of North Staffordshire who performed lung function tests on members of the public. Nurses from the new Stoke on Trent Community Respiratory Team were on hand to answer medical questions from passers-by, and members of the group promoted Breathe Easy. The event received excellent media coverage, with several articles in the local paper and a live interview on BBC Radio Stoke on the day.
