Breathe Easy groups in Northern Ireland

What is a BLF Breathe Easy Group?

A Breathe Easy Group provides support, help and information for people and their carers affected by a lung condition. Breathe Easy network is part of the British Lung Foundation – the only charity working for everyone affected by lung disease. Breathe Easy groups are run by volunteers with the support of BLF Staff.

How can Breathe Easy help you?

Through the Breathe Easy network you can meet other people who are also affected by lung disease and who understand what it feels like to live with a chronic condition. Groups offer support, encouragement and advice whether you are newly diagnosed, living with a lung disease or have a friend or family member with a lung condition.

How often do the groups meet?

Breathe Easy groups meet Monthly throughout the year.

What takes place at monthly meeting?

There are a wide variety of speakers on medical and general topics at monthly meetings. The groups are keen to hear your suggestions for topics to meet your need in relation to your lung condition or that of a family member or friend. Most of all you can have great fun & and make many new friends at these meetings.

Activities

Besides monthly meetings, group members have many social events, BBQ’s, coach outings, fashion shows, dances and much more. Through events like the annual Breathe Easy Week, Breathe Easy works hard to raise an awareness of lung disease and campaign for better services.

Information

All Breathe Easy supporters can get free BLF information on a broad range of topics, including how your lungs work, how they can be affected by lung diseases, and living with a lung condition. Breathe Easy groups receive bi-monthly newsletter with information, news and events from around the local area. Further information and advice is available on our website lunguk.org.

Campaigning and awareness-raising in Northern Ireland

Breathe Easy supporters strengthen the voice of everyone living with lung disease by lobbying MPs, MLAs and health authorities in NI. They campaign to improve services for people affected by lung disease. Breathe Easy is represented on Government bodies in NI and has a real impact for people living with lung disease. Breathe Easy groups play a vital role in raising awareness of the issues affecting people with lung disease as well as the work of BLF in NI.

Breathe Easy - Causeway
Meets on the first Thursday of each month from 7pm-9pm at Lecture Theatre, Causeway Hospital, 1 Newbridge Road, Coleraine BT52 1HS

Breathe Easy - Derry
Meets on the first Tuesday of each month from 11am-1pm at the Old Library Trust, Central Drive, Derry, BT48 9QG.
