We’d like to thank everyone who put their Christmas shopping on hold and braved the winter weather to attend the patient consultation events in Leeds, Walsall, Wellington near Taunton, Aintree and Stansted over the last three weeks.
Patients who attended the events fed into the Department of Health’s forthcoming national strategy for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) in England. The Department is working with the British Lung Foundation and Asthma UK to help shape plans to improve the health and wellbeing of people with COPD and asthma.
Nearly 500 people attended the events, which were designed to gain the views, insight and experience of people with COPD and their carers, to ensure that the plans in the strategy meet their needs.
When the Department's consultation document is published, anyone who was unable to attend these events will have a further chance to comment on the recommendations. For further information about the National Strategy for COPD please go here.
