British Lung Foundation supports March’s Free Wills Month

8 March 2012

The British Lung Foundation (BLF) is part of Free Wills Month available to residents in selected areas. The scheme brings together charities to offer over-55s the opportunity to have their simple wills written for free.

The promotion runs until 30 March and is available to individuals living in selected locations across England. Participating solicitors need to be called before the end of the month, but the Free Will appointment itself can be held at a later date.

Making a will is important for individuals and couples to plan for their future and take the opportunity to leave a sum of money, or a specific gift, to a charity. Legacies are a vital part of the BLF’s fundraising total, making up 25% of its income. The donations are used to fund research and provide information and support to people living with a lung condition.

Amanda Baughen, Individual Giving Manager at the British Lung Foundation, said:

“Writing a will is important so individuals can plan for the future and take care of their loved ones. A charitable gift in a will costs nothing in their lifetime, but makes a huge difference in the years to come to the charity they’ve supported.”
