The British Lung Foundation (BLF) is appointing five new honorary medical advisors, who will provide expert advice and guidance for the charity in its fight to tackle lung disease in both children and adults.
A former President of the British Lung Foundation, Dr John Moore-Gillon, has been respiratory specialist for 25 years and has been associated with the BLF for more than twenty years. Professor Mark Britton was the third Chairman of the BLF and has been a chest consultant since 1983. He is also currently a Professor at the University of Surrey. The third respiratory specialist is Dr Keith Prowse, who is also a past chairman, and was one of the original founders of the BLF in 1985 and has worked a respiratory physician over the past 39 years until he retired in 2002.
Professor Warren Lenney has joined as honorary paediatric adviser, having worked in children’s healthcare for nearly 40 years. Professor Lenney has always had a keen interest in children’s respiratory health and has tirelessly helped the BLF with its campaign to end smoking in cars carrying children.
Finally, Chris Fehrenbach joins as Honorary Nurse Adviser, having started her career at 18 years old when she trained as a nurse in the RAF. She then went into general practice and ran respiratory clinics. Chris is now retired but joins the BLF after 17 years of holding the Matron position for Respiratory services in Portsmouth Hospital – one of the largest trusts in the country.
Dame Helena Shovelton, Chief Executive of the British Lung Foundation said:
“The BLF is honoured to have an expansive group of medical advisers with such exemplary backgrounds in helping people with respiratory diseases. Their knowledge and expertise will strengthen our fight against lung disease across adults, children, patients and carers.”
