Ruth has extensive experience in nursing practice, education and research, both in Australia and the UK. Her clinical area of expertise is critical care and she has sat on a number of Department of Health expert working groups in this field. She has published widely in this field and is currently chair of the nursing and allied health professional section of the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine. Research grants and publications in the past five years focus on improving recognition of deterioration in critically ill patients.
