Peter Dolphin

Peter's career, over some 40 years, has been in Advertising and Marketing. He joined a major international advertising agency group back in 1971 and after five years left, with their blessing, to start an independent, specialist Recruitment Advertising Division with two other colleagues. That business, Moxon, Dolphin & Kerby, grew over the next 20 years to become one of the leading Recruitment Advertising Agencies in the UK working with a broad selection of blue chip organisations and public sector bodies. His role initially was Client Services Director responsible for looking after the development of the customer base. Subsequently he became the Managing Director responsible for the performance of the business overall, and then finally, as the business matured, Chairman.

Then, in 1996, they sold the business to an American Advertising Group, TMP who wanted to develop a European network. Peter was appointed as the C.E.O. and over next five years was responsible for acquiring a number of similar businesses across Europe that established them as the only integrated pan-European network in our sector, with offices in 13 countries and a staff of some 750 people. During this time he briefly ran the Recruitment Advertising Group globally with offices in the USA and Asia, as well as our own European network.

This last role was a brief one because at that time the internet was developing very fast across the our business sector and in 2001 he was given the responsibility for developing, from scratch, the internet brand Monster.com throughout Europe. Over the next five years he led the team responsible for developing Monster to become the leading on-line recruitment business in Europe. By 2006 our sales turnover reached $500m and they employed over 1500 staff.

On his 60th birthday at the beginning of 2007 Peter took the decision to retire from full time work to have more free time to spend on his many other interests. Over the last two years Peter has spent his time working with the BLF, developing a couple of small businesses of his own, managed in partnership with colleagues and family members and relaxing at his house in the south of France.
