Dr Emrys N Evans qualified from the University of Wales College of Medicine in 1990. In 1998 he obtained an MD following research into domiciliary investigations for sleep apnoea and in 1999 he was appointed as consultant in respiratory medicine at Darlington Memorial Hospital. During the tenure of this post he became interested in the management of lung cancer, including palliation of symptoms using endobronchial therapies. In 2002 he began his current post as consultant in respiratory medicine at Morriston Hospital Swansea. He has expanded his interest in therapeutic bronchoscopy and currently offers a range of interventions including stenting, photodynamic therapy, laser, diathermy and endobronchial valves for both malignant and non-malignant disease. He is the hospital lead clinician for lung cancer and has constructed a web site on the management of lung cancer for the South West Wales Cancer Network. He was appointed Chairman of BLF Wales and a Trustee of the BLF in 2005.
