David Bellamy is a GP with a longstanding interest in Respiratory Medicine who retired from full time clinical practice in 2007. Prior to the 20 years spent in primary care he worked in Hospital medicine up to senior registrar grade at hospitals including the Brompton, King’s College, St. Bartholomews and Guys.
Currently he is working for Bournemouth and Poole PCT in an educational role helping local GP practices with improving care and management in COPD and asthma. He is also a Trainer for Education for Health and has recently been elected a Governor for the Royal Bournemouth Hospital.
Other work includes being closely associated with the GPIAG, acting as Chair and Executive Committee member in the 1990s and is currently a Trustee. He has been a GP member of BTS and NICE guidelines on asthma, COPD and lung cancer. Over the last 30 years he has been a prolific medical writer including a book on COPD in Primary Care and also answers patients questions in the BLF magazine.
Interests include the Arts, travel, wildlife photography, wine appreciation, golf, racket–ball, and recently pilates and yoga.
